Performance & Analysis of REM, RED, & GREEN AQM Algorithms in Congestion Control

چکیده
Congestion in a network may occur when the load on the network is greater than the capacity of the network In this paper we analyzed active queue management algorithms with respect to their abilities of maintaining high resource utilization, identifying and restricting disproportionate bandwidth usage, and their deployment complexity. We compare the performance of RED, REM, and GREEN based on simulation results. AQM algorithm is a solution to the problem of congestion control in the Internet. Congested link causes many problems such as large delay, underutilization of the link and packet drops in burst. This paper discusses algorithms based on various congestion-metrics and classifies them based on certain factors. This helps in identifying the algorithms that regulate the congestion more effectively. Keywords— Active Queue Management (AQM), Congestion Control, GREEN, Random Early Detection (RED), Random Exponential Marking (REM), RTT.

An Empirical Validation of a Duality Model of Tcp and Queue Management Algorithms
In this paper we validate through simulations a duality model of TCP and active queue management (AQM) proposed earlier. In this model, TCP and AQM are modeled as carrying out a distributed primal-dual algorithm over the Internet to maximize aggregate source utility. TCP congestion avoidance algorithms, such as Reno and Vegas, iterate on source rates, the primal variable. AQM algorithms, such a...
متن کاملSimulation Analysis of Active Queue Management for Internet Congestion Control
In order to prevent congestion, the current internet uses endto-end congestion control protocol like TCP. In congestion control issues, queue management employed by router has been utmost important. Active queue management (AQM) has been proposed as a router-based mechanism for early detection of congestion inside the network. AQM scheme helps for end-to-end congestion control by having routers...
متن کاملSelf-Organization in a Particle Swarm Optimized Fuzzy Logic Congestion Detection Mechanism for IP Networks
The Fuzzy Logic Congestion Detection (FLCD) algorithm is a recent proposal for congestion detection in IP networks which combines the good characteristics of both traditional Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms and fuzzy logic based AQM algorithms. The Membership Functions (MFs) of the FLCD algorithm are designed using a Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) algorithm, in ord...

Abstract— The internet and its applications are an integral part of our daily life. Today’s Internet needs to provide Best Effort Service. With the rapid transformation of the Internet into a commercial infrastructure, demands for quality of service have rapidly developed. Traffic is processed as quickly as possible, but there is no guarantee of timelines or actual delivery. The people of the m...
متن کاملOn Control Parameters Tuning for Active Queue Management Mechanisms using Multivariate Analysis
In recent years, AQM (Active Queue Management) mechanisms, which support the end-to-end congestion control mechanism of TCP by performing congestion control at a router, have been actively studied by many researchers. AQM mechanisms usually have several control parameters, and their effectiveness depends on a setting of those control parameters. Therefore, issues on parameter tuning of several ...
